FAQ
Q: Is lacrosse a club or varsity sport at Rice?
A: It is a club sport.
Q: What league does Rice Lacrosse play in?
A: We play in the MCLA, and our conference is the Lonestar Alliance. We play teams such as UT, Texas A&M, Texas State, LSU, Tulane, Baylor, North Texas, etc. Conference information can be found at lonestaralliance.org
Q: If I’m awesome at lacrosse, should I play?
A: You should definitely play. We have a lot of players from the east coast and other lacrosse-experienced areas who have been playing since they were babies.
Q: Do I need lacrosse experience to play?
A: No. Athletes of all kinds are welcome. If you’re willing to learn, our experienced players are willing to teach you.
Q: How much does it cost to play?
A: Player dues are usually between $100-$200 per year. On top of that, players are responsible for purchasing a stick and any other equipment other than a helmet. Participation in fundraising events is also required. However, this should never prevent anyone from playing, so we’ll work something out if cost is an issue.
Q: I’m an incoming freshman. How can I find you guys?
A: We’ll be at the Rice Carnival during O-Week and the Activities Fair during the first week of classes making sure that we find you. If you still can’t find us after that, ask around. The most error-free option is to contact team president Rob Bauer on the facebook or at rcb4@rice.edu. Feel free to shoot him e-mails over the summer. Check out the Contact page.
Q: When do you play?
A: We play scrimmages during the fall, and our main season is from February to May.
Q: I heard that you guys are the coolest team on campus that gets all of the ladies. Is this true?
A: That is correct.
Q: How do I get to your field?
A: Directions to O’Connor Field.
Q: How much does it cost to come to a game?
A: We offer standing room only for free. Bring the kids!
